“When I make a photograph I want it to be an altogether new object, complete and self-contained, whose basic condition is order”.

Aaron Siskind (1903-1991)

We are often overwhelmed by the sublime beauty of undisturbed and wild nature. We are thrilled by changes of light, harmonious or contrasting colours and shapes. The mysterious beauty of parts and details can also make abstract and ambiguous aspects of nature visible.

The urban landscape is more complicated. The pace and unrest of modern living, and the audible and visual noise inside the urban jungle makes it difficult to notice anything but that. It is, however, possible to experience a visual poetry in the urban environment which in some ways echoes magic qualities found in nature. Walls and other surfaces display mysterious marks and colours. These are unstable, abstract expressions with a subtle beauty and meaning.
